Antwerp, Belgium – On 18 November 2020, American Roll-On Roll-Off Carrier (ARC) loaded a 9/11 World Trade Center remembrance memorial on its U.S.-flag ship M/V Freedom. The model was created by 19-year old Dutch artist Daan Van Der Steijn (pictured right) and will be shown at multiple exhibitions in the United States, culminating in a display in New York City on 11 September 2021 as part of commemoration ceremonies for the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
ARC Vice President & Head of Commercial Chris Heibel said, “ARC was honored to provide logistics support for the shipment of the display from the artist’s studio in the Netherlands to the port of Galveston, Texas as part of a joint effort with the non-profit organizations Honor365 and the Fallen Hero Network. The organizations’ goals are to support mental wellness for veterans and first responders, and to inspire and educate younger generations on the impacts of 9/11.”
Cody Cross, founder of the Fallen Hero Network, added “It’s been amazing to have ARC involved in this project. This is not only meaningful to our nation but to us as veterans.”
