American Roll-On Roll-Off Carrier (ARC) recently hosted students from the National Defense University’s (NDU) Eisenhower School of National Security and Resource Strategy at the port of Baltimore on February 2, 2024.

Fifteen students from the Eisenhower School along with their professors, Dr. Stephen Dubernas and Dr. Eric Weiss, took part in a comprehensive tour of Mid-Atlantic Terminal (MAT) at Baltimore’s Dundalk Marine Terminal. The group also toured Wallenius Wilhelmsen Solutions’ Vehicle Processing Center (VPC) and a roll-on roll-off vessel as it discharged new manufactured automobiles arriving from Korea. The tour was led by Christopher Barber and Ameed Micko from ARC, as well as Brian Kalman from Wallenius Wilhelmsen.

ARC is honored to have enjoyed a long partnership with NDU’s Eisenhower School centered around this annual visit to the port of Baltimore marked by engaging group dialogue and practical industry experience. The purpose of the tour was to study the transportation and logistics industry and how it intersects with national security and economic policy objectives. Prior to the port and vessel tour, the students took part in a presentation and question-and-answer session on ARC’s mission, capabilities, and commitments to the U.S. Department of Defense, while also reviewing the state of commercial sealift and the American maritime industry overall.

About NDU

The Eisenhower School is one of five colleges within NDU, and its mission is to prepare select military officers and civilians for strategic leadership and success in developing national security strategy and in evaluating, marshaling, and managing resources in the execution of that strategy. Students typically are rising senior leaders with more than 20 years of professional experience preparing for future positions at the highest levels of the Armed Forces, government service, international partners, or private industry. Roughly half of the students are U.S. military officers with the other half consisting of foreign military officers, private industry executives, and government officials from various U.S. federal departments such as Defense, State, Commerce and Treasury.
